500 Doubloons

Friendly Bear Theatre

Toronto

July 18, 2025 - July 27, 2025

A group of bar patrons have all heard the same story: during the Golden Age of Piracy a pirate paid a woman five hundred doubloons (about $400,000 dollars) to take her clothes off, and nothing more. No other details are available. But surely it can’t be that straightforward? Each character has a different explanation, each building on the others'. This story asks: when history gives us no details, what story do we choose to invent?
