2023 Fringe Benefits Button
Artists from Ontario, across Canada, and around the globe offer up a diverse lineup of live comedy, plays, music, dance, art, film, family fare, and more.
Situated between Toronto and the Niagara region, Hamilton provides a unique backdrop for this exciting performance festival. Visitors can make a day trip to explore the city’s renowned waterfalls, earning Hamilton’s reputation as the Waterfall Capital of Canada. Once downtown, attendees can immerse themselves in the heart of the Fringe by attending shows at historic venues such as the Players’ Guild of Hamilton, with a dark and wild history dating back to 1878, or The Westdale, a newly-restored 1935 art deco marvel.
Tickets are priced at an affordable $14 per show, allowing adventurous Fringers to take in multiple performances without breaking the bank. The Fringe Club Outdoor Stage offers free events and entertainment every night, creating a space for mingling and enjoying a pint with Hamilton Fringe artists.
You can take in our new free walking tour of downtown Hamilton, Fringe On The Streets. A reimagined, immersive walking tour along the King St E–James St N corridor, audiences will experience the city through live art and performance. Hop on or off anywhere along the 90-minute route as we bring you twisted ghost stories at Ferguson Station, drag in Gore Park, street preachers with a twist, a museum of stories in Jackson Square, wild traveling bands along York, and a larger-than-life grand finale dance number at Tivoli in the Square. There’s never been a tour of Downtown Hamilton quite like this!
Check out the Fringe Club Outdoor Stage & Patio outside Theatre Aquarius (190 King William St), a space to gather, relax, and celebrate the Hamilton Fringe community. Join us during the day as the Vintage Coffee Roasters Pop-Up offers perky drinks and tasty snacks, while the Fringe Club bar opens after 6pm for those looking for a chance to take advantage of our licensed outdoor patio. The Fringe Club Outdoor Stage is the venue for the Hamilton Fringe Opening Night Kick-Off, Keeping Six Open Mic nights, karaoke, music, dance, , Films on the Fringe: Shorts Showcase, the Spark teen show, the Kids Club Fun Day (Sat July 29), and more. And all our outdoor programming is FREE!
