The Upcycle | Show 1 of 3
Wherefore (Diana?) is a site-specific, participatory balcony performance about spectacle, power, and the choreography of being seen. Performed as Princess Diana in drag, I invite the audience to join me on the balcony as “the royal family,” inhabiting roles inside the image rather than watching from below. Through queer re-staging of iconic balcony scenes—Juliet, Rapunzel, the royal kiss—this piece examines who gets displayed, who gets to look, and what “home” becomes when it’s a public stage. Part satire, part ritual, part confession, Wherefore asks what remains when the wave stops.
Their Majesty the Queer is a theatre artist whose work centres trans, non-binary, and queer lives through bold, camp-infused performance. Their alter ego Key Straughan are the founder and artistic director of Transgendent Co, created to amplify trans, non-binary, and neurodivergent perspectives often excluded from mainstream stages. Blending drag, satire, and social critique, Their Majesty the Queer challenges power, privilege, and colonization while making space for laughter, vulnerably, and transformation.
