Fringe All-Access
Applications open until March 6th for the 2023 series!!!

The Fringe All-Access series represents the evolution of Hamilton Fringe’s history providing artistically engaging, financially accessible programming at the Fringe Club. Programmed by our Community Curators Circle, Fringe All-Access showcases innovative, transdisciplinary performance work by a diverse range of professional and emerging artists. The series is also intended to offer greater universal accessibility–and all performances are FREE!

Up to 5 Fringe All-Access shows will be presented at our outdoor Fringe Club Outdoor Stage during the 2023 Hamilton Fringe Festival (July 19-30).

Select performances will feature ASL interpretation and/or surtitles, and there will also be select relaxed performances. A “relaxed” performance is a performance adapted to accommodate neurodivergent adults or children who might find standard theatre performances overwhelming or unpleasant. All attendees are welcome to come and go as they please.

So check out the Fringe All-Access schedule, and make a plan to come see some of the best new performance work the region has to offer!

Calling all creatives, movers, shakers and event makers!

Do you have an outdoor performance-based event that’s built for the fringe club’s outdoor stage? Does your work build and/or bring together Hamilton’s diverse community?

We want you!

About the Call
The Hamilton Fringe Festival is returning with ‘Fringe All-Access’ at the Fringe Club! For the second in-person year in a row, we are excited to program this series as a response to the historical and ongoing lack of accessible theatrical experiences for Hamilton artists and audiences alike. We are looking to support brilliant creatives with community-impacting performance-based projects of both theatre and theatre-adjacent work that will be programmed during the 2023 Hamilton Fringe!

What are some examples of potential All Access Projects?

  • A concert exploring mixed-race identity!
  • A cabaret performed by Hamilton-based artists with disabilities!
  • An interactive AR performance that uses spaces and locations in the fringe club and patio!

We are especially interested in projects and artists who reflect the many diverse communities that make up Hamilton. We invite participation from artists from a variety of backgrounds. In particular, we encourage applications from those who are Indigenous, Black, People of Colour, Trans, Non-Binary, LGBTQ+, neurodivergent, and disabled.

All-Access provides pay, exposure, and professional opportunities for Hamilton-based artists. This is a paid opportunity of CAD $1250.00 to provide two live, in-person performances at the Fringe Club with all performances being provided to attendees free of charge.

The piece should be suitable for an outdoor stage, be up to 60 minutes in length, and feature relatively limited technical requirements.

If you have questions about whether or not your piece fits the criteria or any access needs, please contact: phone at 289-698-2234, email christopher@hftco.ca or in-person by appointment at 41 King William St., Suite 206, Hamilton between 10:30am and 4:30pm Monday to Friday.
