After coming out to their immigrant mother amidst a looming alien invasion, Messy (a neurodivergent, non-binary “consultant”) decides to invest all of their savings into funding their dream rap career. The only thing is that Messy is not that good.

Playwright and Performer Kitoko Mai is thinking about breaking up with Black Excellence. But they’re not sure. One show, two versions, alternating each night.

The artists presenting Messy: A Chaotic Black Femme Rage Musical have come to the difficult decision to cancel their Friday July 19, Saturday July 20 and Sunday July 21 performances at the Hamilton Fringe Festival

FRIDAY JULY 26 at 8:30pm is our Black Out Night*! Black Out Nights are performances for Black audiences. The spirit behind this evening is to provide a space for Black theatre-goers to experience theatre in a space made for them. This practice originated in 2019 during the Broadway run of Slave Play and has since been repeated at TPM, Buddies in Bad Times, and other theatres. *No one will be turned away from attending, but we encourage you to investigate why you would want to attend if you do not self-identify as Black.
